Arturo Garces
With a solid collection of tracks, Arturo’s music has helped define the unique and emerging Silicon Valley sound. This approach blends the driving, beat-laden beauty of techno with the soulful, deep melodies of House.
Born and raised in San Jose, California, Arturo Garces has been surrounded by dance music his entire life. The son of a serious collector of funk, soul and disco records, Arturo grew up listening to the roots of house music. These early influences are evident in his works as a DJ and producer today.
Interested in making his own music, Arturo got hold of a sampler in 1995 and hasn’t looked back since. He has releases on both established & strictly underground labels (Robsoul Recordings, Cross Section, Magnetic Recordings, Oomph, Smoke City Music, Subliminal Soul, Jump Recordings, Solid Trax, Sneak Classics, Liberate, Plush, Trax Café, Audio Abuse, Do Box, Council House Recordings, & more). Arturo has new projects and remixes coming out on Cross Section, Magnetic, Underground Therapy Muzik, Robsoul, Solid Trax, Beat Bum Music, & a track featured on Fabric #62 mix by DJ Sneak (Light it Up – Jump Recordings).
A DJ since age 15, Arturo has played throughout the U.S. & regularly spins in the Bay Area. He was a resident at Funky Tekno Tribe’s monthly, “Organic”, and was a member of FTT’s “2000 Generations Tour”. Other DJs on the tour included DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, Barry Weaver, Graeme, Hector Cardenas, Jeno, DJ Mea, DJ Sneak, DJ Rap, Mark Farina, John Acquaviva, Dean Coleman, Supa DJ Dimitry, Mr C, and Evil Eddie Richards.
Today Arturo is the label manager for San Jose’s house imprint Jump Recordings, Beat Bum Music, and techno label Resource Records.
